AFI (A Fire Inside) es una banda de Rock Alternativo estadounidense formada en 1991. La banda comenzó con un estilo hardcore punk, de la mano de una importante oleada a principios de los 90 en California, con canciones típicas del género, de apenas dos minutos de duración e influidos por grupos como The Misfits o Dead Kennedys.2 Además, para su segundo álbum de estudio,Very Proud of Ya, AFI firmó un contrato con Nitro Records, uno de los sellos más importantes del punk estadounidense. Sin embargo, con Black Sails in the Sunset lanzado en 1999, la banda comenzó a desarrollar una música más elaborada, con tendencias a la música gótica de los 80 y electrónica,2 influenciada en gran parte por la llegada de Jade Puget. Con The Art of Drowning y Sing the Sorrow la banda se confirmó como una banda madura y de un rock más experimental, a la vez que llegaron los éxitos en el Billboard y firmaron por una multinacional. En sus conciertos, como en el DVD I Heard a Voice, se deja ver la parafernalia gótica y las espectaculares puestas de largo de luz y sonido de la banda californiana.
